Regretful Accelerationism – Stratechery by Ben Thompson
Let the virtual world be one of customized content for every individual, with the assumption it is all made-up; some may lose themselves to the algorithm and AI friends, but perhaps more will realize that the only way to survive online is to pay it increasingly little heed.

AI and Trust - Schneier on Security
AIs are not people; they don’t have agency. They are built by, trained by, and controlled by people. Mostly for-profit corporations. Any AI regulations should place restrictions on those people and corporations
Long read but worth it.

Shane MacGowan: A unifying Irish-English voice, in time of bombs and bullets - BBC News
But The Pogues did Irish song with dirt under its fingernails, as spellbinding as American gospel, as heart-rending as Puccini, as wild as the sea-spray on a Connemara cliff, as wrenching as a Kilburn hangover.
Perfect.

Politics on the Edge
Finished reading: Politics on the Edge by Rory Stewart 📚
Finished listening to the audio book version of this over 13 hours of walks. Eye opening, gob smacking, and ultimately a depressing insight into UK politics. I’m sure though, it’s pretty similar in many other countries. Serious people are being forced out of politics.

Google witness accidentally blurts out that Apple gets 36% cut of Safari deal | Ars Technica
Google and Apple objected to making this key detail public from their long-running default search deal. But their closely held secret came out on Monday during testimony from Google’s main economics expert, Kevin Murphy, during the Department of Justice’s monopoly trial examining Google’s search business.
Wow. Explains so much.
