I see that BYD had the highest share of the car market in China in the first quarter of this year. Ahead of VW for the first time. BYD is now entering the European market with their EV’s and is just about to launch here in Ireland.

As the move to EV’s speeds up, the brand is going to do very well here. In Ireland, it seems to me that Toyota’s market share is really at risk in the medium term. They have done really well over the last few years with their “self charging” hybrids, but are way behind on EV’s.

I was fascinated to learn that Berkshire Hathaway invested in BYD all the way back in 2008.
